The Nordic Explorer

For those looking to immerse themselves even deeper in Norwegian fishing traditions, Nordic Explorer is a two-day program that combines modern fishing with ancient techniques. Set in the stunning fjords of Øygarden in Vestland, this program offers a hands-on experience of net fishing, longlining, and line fishing, allowing you to understand and practice the methods that have shaped the region for generations.

On day one, you'll be transported to a small island in the fjord, where we’ll begin with a brief safety overview. From there, we dive into the traditional techniques of net fishing, longlining, and line fishing. After learning the basics, we'll spend several hours fishing in the fjords, with the chance to explore more remote spots and even venture into the open sea if the weather permits.

Throughout the day, lunch packs and drinks are provided to keep you energized. After returning to shore, you’ll get a hands-on lesson in cleaning and preparing the catch, followed by a delicious meal featuring fresh fish soup and traditional Norwegian waffles for dessert.

Day two continues the adventure, focusing on perfecting your skills in traditional fishing methods. You’ll spend time fishing again, but with a greater understanding of how to use nets, longlines, and lines to catch fish. You’ll also take part in cleaning and sorting the catch, gaining insight into the full process of fishing from sea to table.

As with day one, lunch is provided, and the day concludes with another round of freshly prepared fish, fish soup, and Norwegian waffles. Afterward, you'll have time to relax, reflect on the experience, and enjoy the peaceful surroundings before returning to your accommodation.

For full comfort, we offer cozy accommodations through Airbnb, allowing you to unwind in the tranquil environment of the region after a fulfilling day on the water.

Nordic Explorer is more than just fishing; it's about connecting to the traditions of the past and experiencing Norwegian coastal life from a truly authentic perspective. With a focus on sustainability and respect for nature, this program offers an unforgettable and meaningful adventure in the heart of the fjords.
